Bnei Akiva Sends Care Packages and Letters to Chayalim in Israel

During the most recent Israeli Military operations in Gaza, Israeli Chayalim faced a period of intense hardship as they spent several weeks away from their homes in hostile territory. Residents of Sderot shared this challenging experience, as their town was continuously targeted by enemy rocket fire. Bnei Akiva of New York reached out to these communities and these Chayalim, by sending several hundreds of care packages along with hundreds of letters to these Israelis in need.

These projects were organized by the Bnei Akiva Shlichot in the Ramaz School and by the Bnei Akiva Bnot Sherut in Yeshivat Noam. Students were asked to bring socks, toiletries, snacks and other essentials to their schools. The Bnei Akiva teachers, Liad and Liron Zimmerman and children, and many parental volunteers arranged these items into more than five-hundred care packages. From there, families from the schools who visited Israel during winter vacation delivered these packages to representatives of Bnei Akiva in Israel, who then distributed these messages of support to Chayalim stationed on army bases. Thanks to everyone who supported and participated in this special project.

Make sure to check out pictures of the packing and the receiving on our Multimedia page. Also, make sure to watch a video of the project at the Ramaz School.
